Imagine entering an enchanted portal that deposits you in the Wild West in 1888. Travel in the footsteps of 12-year-old Dominick Dalesandro as he attempts to change the course of history.
This Incredible Middle-Grade Western Time-Travel Adventure Begins Here
Unlike other sixth-graders who enjoy sports and video games, Dominick Dalesandro is obsessed with the Old West — cowboys, outlaws, lawmen, and the rugged landscape. He has read countless books on the topic and has watched every Western on TV and in the movies. Despite being teased by his classmates about this unusual passion, Dominick can't shake his fascination with life on the prairie in the 1800s.
He is especially interested in Sheriff Amos "Lone Wolf" Malone, an Old West lawman who walked the streets of Abilene, KS, in the late 1880s. Each day, Dominick visits the basement of his local library to read about his favorite topic. One day, a librarian friend who shares his passion shows Dominick a rare, first-edition book she had found in the archives — “The Man Who Tamed the Wild West — The Unauthorized Biography of Amos ‘Lone Wolf’ Malone,” published in 1895.
Dominick opens the book and blows away the dust. A strange thing then occurs — the dust particles begin to swirl and glow, taking the shape of a cloud, then a funnel, then a man. Before Dominick realizes what has happened, Sheriff Amos Malone is standing before him. Dominick is frightened at first, but the sheriff assures him there is nothing to worry about. Sheriff Malone, who is nearing retirement age, has traveled to the future to recruit his replacement and believes young Dominick Dalesandro is the perfect choice.
